What you're paying for

A self-paced course mainly charges for organised lessons. A structured programme may add a sequence, exercises or support. Live-room services charge for ongoing access, while a mentorship may combine education, feedback, community and live sessions.

More contact usually costs more to provide, but a higher fee does not establish teaching quality or trading results. Decide whether you will actually use feedback and community before paying for them. See our comparison of the best forex courses.

Hidden costs

The course fee may not be the full cost. Software can be sold separately, charting can have its own subscription and an educator may offer later upgrades. Ask for the complete list before buying.

Trading itself also has spreads and possible commissions or financing charges. Most importantly, the capital in a trading account is at risk. Do not treat that capital as part of an education budget or assume a course will repay its fee.

Refunds and trials

Many digital courses restrict refunds after access is provided. TradeThatSwing states no refunds, and TFTC’s terms say purchases are generally non-refundable. Read the exact terms that apply at checkout rather than relying on a summary.

Pattern Trader has a 10-day free trial and no refunds. A trial is useful only if you know when it ends, what happens next and whether you can test the functions you need. Keep your own cancellation record.

How to decide what to spend

Start with the gap you need to fill. Free fundamentals may be enough if terminology is the issue. A self-paced course may suit someone who wants structure but not feedback. A community or mentor may suit someone who learns through questions and review.

  • What exact support is included, and for how long?
  • Are software, charting or upgrades sold separately?
  • Are refund and renewal terms written down before payment?
  • Can you afford the fee separately from your trading capital?

Use our course due-diligence checklist before paying. If regular access and peer support are priorities, read our top pick for support and a community. Education may improve structure, but it cannot remove the risk of loss.
